SIDEREUS 2008
Dialogue Concerning EU and Asia on GALILEO-based applications
SIDEREUS is a business matchmaking event between European and Southeast Asian companies operating in the aerospace and ICT sectors on satellite navigation applications with a special focus on GALILEO.
SIDEREUS is coordinated by FILAS, the Financial Development Agency of the Regione Lazio, and co-funded by the Asia Invest Programme of the European Commission with the patronage of the Regione Lazio (Italy).
SIDEREUS is for companies from the EU, China, India and ASEAN countries, wishing to meet to discuss business opportunities and research collaborations. SIDEREUS is a major event in the field of satellite navigation that will take place in Beijing on November 26-28, 2008, combining conferences, workshops and business meetings for 300 companies.
Unlike other purely commercial events, SIDEREUS is supported by the European Union through the ASIA-INVEST programme, is free of charge and is strongly backed by key public and private stakeholders from all involved regions. |
The main objective of SIDEREUS is to establish long-term business and technological co-operation agreements through a series of one-on-one matchmaking meetings between companies, research centres and other organisations operating in the aerospace and ICT sectors.
SIDEREUS aims to involve 160 Asian companies and 140 European companies in the final matchmaking event.
| The emphasis of SIDEREUS is on all downmarket aerospace and ICT-related technology with a special focus on GALILEO-based satellite navigation applications. |
| Special attention will also be given to new forthcoming satellite navigation systems such as China’s Compass and the Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS). |
In particular, SIDEREUS will:
- Collect knowledge about Asian and European emerging Galileo-based satellite navigation markets;
- Promote awareness about instruments facilitating economic cooperation;
- Create strategic alliances and business contacts;
- Help SMEs to identify new business opportunities;
- Set up a specific methodology to ensure the success of the match-making event in the aero-space sector, a field in which the value chain is particularly sophisticated and complex;
- Aim to establish SIDEREUS as an acknowledged and self-sustainable annual or bi-annual appointment.

SIDEREUS is open to participants from, China, India and ASEAN countries on the Asian side and from EU countries with priority to Italy, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
SIDEREUS is jointly organised by FILAS, the lead contractor, together with 3 Asian and 3 European partners. All partners act as national councillors.
