Six months ahead of the final matchmaking event that will be held in Beijing, China onNovember 26-28, 2008, SIDEREUS is looking at a positive registration trend.
Registration is in full swing with companies signing up early to reap the special benefits provided by the SIDEREUS incentives programme. Moreover, Project Director Michela Michilli, Head of the Filas EU Initiatives and Programmes Unit that coordinates SIDEREUS, is very pleased to point out that registration is evenly distributed among the various regions recruiting companies from the EU, China, India and the ASEAN countries.
The main objective of SIDEREUS is to establish long-term business and technological co-operation agreements through a series of one-on-one matchmaking meetings between companies, research centres and other organisations operating in the aerospace and ICT sectors.
Here are some of the enthusiastic reports we have received from the earliest registered companies:
Luigi Mazzucchelli, Head of Research and Innovation at NEXT-Ingegneria dei Sistemi SpA from Italy emphasises that “The importance of the forthcoming GALILEO initiative is a key opportunity worldwide. The capacities of the European companies, supported by Research and Institutions shall be complemented by new actors in China and India as the most promising for the navigation applications in all sectors (mass market and professional). The SIDEREUS project, by the relevant activities and the Beijing event, will constitute a vehicle for new prospects and cooperation for research and market development”.
Nirmal Kumar Yadamani from Geo InfoSpace Pvt Ltd, an Indian company that was amongst the first to register for SIDEREUS reflects the same enthusiasm and adds that the initiative is the “perfect opportunity to exchange ideas, promote each other's business and look for new opportunities” in the new market that will be created by the Galileo GNSS.
Rainer Horn, Managing Partner of SpaceTec Capital Partners AG from Germany, includes amongst their priorities “the promotion of services to the Italian and German SatNav/Geo Services network and the great opportunity to expand this network, given the lead time that can be exploited, especially to the Chinese environment where the main activity will be by the time Galileo is fully operational”.
Francisco Ibanez, R&D Projects Director from Innovatech S&C Spain, indicates that “the possibilities that SIDEREUS could bring to our developments as well as to have the opportunity to contact European and Asian companies for further collaboration in projects research and development”.
