YIZHUANG SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PARK

The Beijing economic technical development area began to be developed in 1991.In 1999, it was upgraded to a state-level economic technical development area.
The Zhongguancun Yinzhuang Science and Technology Park was founded here in 1999.

By the October 2001, there were 950 enterprises in the Beijing economic technical development, including 30 of the World Top 500; just to mention some: Nokia, GM Electric, Lucent technologies, Bayer, Schneider Electric, ABB, Sanyo and IBM. Moreover, there is the Nuosai Genome North Research Centre, Weixiao Biotech, etc.

So many enterprises own proprietary intellectual property rights that this area has become a high technology industry base for the electrical, information, biotech and new medicine, optical, mechanical and electronic integration, new material and new energy sectors.

During the ‘Ten Five” period, the GDP of the area increased to 23.5 billion RMB 2005 from 2.914 billion RMB 2000. The industry GDP increased to 110.2 billion RMB same period, the sale revenue increased to 126.7 billion RMB. Both items reached to 13 times of 2000, increased by 67% annual.
By the year 2010, the population of Yizhuang will reach to 0.3 million. The city ground for construction amount will be less than 45 square km.
